Cecina de Res is a traditional Peruvian food, but without historical features. Its recipe is in particular, one of the most popular preparations that is given in rural populations, its name differs from one after another; without getting to know which is the real one. Even so, its traditional style consists of salting beef and leaving it to dry in the open air or in the sun. It is considered an economical recipe, and easy to make!

Cecina de Res Peruvian recipe

Ingredients:

  • Half kg of peeled peas.
  • Half kg of yellow potato.
  • 500 g of beef jerky.
  • 50 g of yellow chili bell pepper.
  • 50 grams of red chili bell pepper.
  • 10 grams of freshly ground garlic.
  • Vegetable oil.

Recipe procedure.

  1. Peel each yellow potato, and cut it in free form or diced.
  2. On a medium and comfortable pot, add vegetable oil, and make a basic dressing by adding ground garlic, and the chili peppers.
  3. After the dressing, add the potatoes in the form that we have cut, move from one side to the other and add the peeled peas.
  4. Add the beef cut into cubes (Brunoise style), watch constantly and add water when the stew dries.
  5. Serve with rice and natural fruit juice.
