Causa limeña is a typical Peruvian meal, prepared exclusively with one of the native ingredients of Peru, the potato. This ingredient is the main element of the whole meal, which allows us to form the mashed potatoes we need to prepare an unforgettable "limeñazo". This dish can be prepared for all kinds of occasions and gatherings. The ingredients can be varied to your taste, and make this meal more than delicious. There is no doubt that we are talking about an exquisite meal.

 Causa limeña (Peruvian recipes)

Ingredients:

  • 1 kg. of cooked yellow potato.
  • 250 ml. of vegetable oil.
  • 4- 6 spoonfuls of yellow chili bell pepper.
  • 1 fresh and washed lettuce.
  • 100 g. of fresh cheese (optional).
  • 4 medium olives (to accompany).
  • Peeled peas.
  • Corn kernels.
  • Carrot cut in small squares.
  • 4 boiled eggs (cut in slices).
  • Mayonnaise.

Recipe procedure.

  1. Boil the potatoes until they are cooked and peel them. Then, press them to obtain the mashed potatoes, and knead them well with your hands.
  2. Season with salt, pepper, lemon juice, aji amarillo and oil (mix all the ingredients until everything is yellow). Then, take small portions of the puree by hand to make the first layer.
  3. Then add olives, corn, carrots, and mix with mayonnaise. To finish, add another layer of mashed potatoes.
  4. Place our design on a plate, and decorate as you like. Finally, serve with a creole sauce, served on top of the mashed potatoes.
  5. Serve with your favorite beverage, and enjoy with the people you admire or love the most.

Ingredients

Note: If you do not only want vegetables, you can also add shredded chicken, and it is always good to use high quality ingredients. Also, wash your ingredients very well, for better cooking.
